At Fremantle Door & Window Company, we craft custom built doors for a growing legion of satisfied customers in the Perth area. We use ethically-sourced, sustainable timber for our frames. The glass we use for the panes is made right here in WA.
When a homeowner expresses interest, we like to start with a design consult. Sometimes, a homeowner already knows what they want, but it’s good to make sure you know all of your options and haven’t missed any opportunities.
The decision is usually made based on need and appearance. Both are important. You want a door to be functional but also add to the value and aesthetic of your home and improve your lifestyle. The right door can do all of that.
Crucial Factors for Type and Design of Doors
We ask a lot of questions before and during a design consult. We like to help you figure out exactly what you need and what will work the best in your home. Here are some of the more important factors.
What kind of floor plan?
Open floor plans are very popular right now. Bifold doors on the inside and bifold or sliding doors on the outside are usually the best bet for an open floor plan. A standard floor plan can still be modernised, but a standard door may be more appropriate for internal doors.
What room is it in?
If your door goes directly to a patio, the needs will be different than if you need a door for a bedroom or a bathroom.
How much ventilation do you need?
Bifold doors and sliding cavity doors allow for maximum ventilation. Standard sliding doors or conventional doors don’t allow for as much. This will be an important factor.
How much space do you have to work with?
Bifold doors and sliding doors create more space because you don’t need any clearance space for a standard door to swing into.
How much light do you want to allow into the room?
Bifold doors and sliding doors allow large amounts of light into a room.
