Our custom built doors and windows are made of 100% ethically sourced timber from sustainable sources. We know you probably aren’t thinking about that when you are deciding whether to install bifold doors or pivot doors in your Perth home, but it is in your best interests to use ethically sourced timber for all of your building needs. Here’s why.
Quality
One of the hallmarks of ethical sourcing is that timber is harvested at its perfect age for harvest. If it is harvested too early or too late, the quality of the timber won’t be as high. It can tend to shrink, swell or splinter if it is harvested at the wrong time. Ethical harvesting takes care of the first quality issue on the supply chain.
Carbon Footprint
Timber is harvested in plantations or forests at their age of maturity and they are replaced by planting new trees. Timber is actually a carbon storehouse. A tree “breathes” carbon from the air and turns it into timber. The oxygen is released back into the air as the equivalent of an “exhalation.”
It is a documented fact that carbon is a greenhouse gas that is partially responsible for global warming. If you have been paying attention to the last ten summers, you know that something needs to be done. When a tree reaches the age of “maturity,” it is not removing carbon from the environment nearly as fast anymore. A new, young tree is at the peak of its growing and processing of carbon.
More Forests
Harvesting and replanting trees on plantations or in the forest keeps the amount of forest constant. Many trees sourced in places like the South American rainforest are harvested without replanting, stripping the land and damaging the ecosystem. Ethical practices ensure that nothing like this happens.
Our timber is certified by Malaysian Timber Certification Council, this region’s highest benchmark of quality. To learn more, call us today: 1300 308 323.
