A lot of people may not know of the many uses for sliding doors in the Perth area. There are so many that we often take them for granted. Here are a few that we like.
Hotels, Condominiums and Apartments
Builders of hotel rooms, condos and apartments know that space is at a premium. They also know that the best way to create more useable space and make the room look larger is to have a sliding glass door with a full view of the outdoors.
Many hotels and motels have a sliding door to the sidewalk on the first floor and a sliding door to a patio or deck on the upper floors. On the first floor they are great for taking luggage in through a door that is wider than a standard door. On the upper floors, the sliding door provides a better view because of the glass and usually leads onto a nice patio where one can relax before going to sleep. Many better apartments and condominiums also have sliding glass doors leading onto a patio.
Using the sliding glass door to a patio incorporates the patio as part of the room or apartment, thus making the space you can use larger. In hotels, this is important because the rooms are so small. In apartments, it’s a nice touch and the extra living space is always appreciated.
Patio Doors in Free-Standing Homes
In free standing homes, sliding doors are used for decks, patios, balconies, courtyards, backyards, BBQ, gardens and swimming pools. They are also used to let fresh air into the home whenever the weather cooperates.
Internal Sliding Doors
Sliding doors are often used in automobile sales areas and other offices. They provide audio privacy while allowing visual access. Frosted sliding doors are often used inside of homes, as are cavity sliding doors.
