The Advantages of Pivot Doors

At Fremantle Door & Window Company, we offer pivot doors. Pivot doors are gaining popularity in the Perth area as people are becoming more aware of their advantages. Pivot doors, which open and close via a pivot underneath the door, are not for every situation, but there are some in which they are perfect for adding an aesthetic and substance to a room.

Advantages Of Pivot Doors

Stability

The main advantage of a pivot door is that it is supported by a pivot on the floor with help from another pivot at the top of the door. This makes it a great alternative to a standard door, which is hung on a door frame with hinges. That frame has to support the weight of the entire door. If a door is really heavy, the frame has to be reinforced to provide stability for a standard timber door.

If you want a heavy door, the pivot door is the answer to keeping it stable. It is also good for doors made out of fragile materials, such as the ever-popular glass door. Another advantage is that it takes a lot less hardware and a much simpler design to install a pivot door.

Convenience

Another advantage: a pivot door doesn’t even need a frame. This means you don’t have to do anything to the floor. Since the door pivots instead of swinging, it makes the process of opening and closing the door easier. It also means the door doesn’t need as large a clearance area as a swinging door does.

Appeal

A pivot door can often add greatly to the aesthetic of a room. In fact, it can be installed to look like part of the wall or just kept flush with the wall but noticeable. No matter what the case, the lines are less obtrusive because they are cleaner. Pivot doors are becoming popular in the shower and bathroom, too.
