Pivot Doors Add a Unique Aesthetic to Your Entryway

Pivot doors aren’t the most popular choice of entryway doors among Perth homeowners, but anyone we have ever installed them for has always been extremely satisfied. We love pivot doors as an alternative to a standard solid entry door or “front door.”

Most homes are built to standard builder’s plans or “specs.” Builders of standard homes try to maximise their profits by building solid homes but with ordinary aesthetics. Usually, that means an ordinary, solid front door. This is usually an aluminium door or a “timber” door that is hollow with laminated surfaces fastened to a timber frame.

Pivot Doors to your Entryway

These spec doors are OK, but they certainly aren’t going to win any design awards. That’s why we like using solid timber with a timber framed pane of glass on each side. While this works great with a standard solid timber door, it works even better with a solid timber pivot door.

Pivot doors are mounted on a pivot underneath the door instead of having hinges. The pivot point is offset slightly in from the edge of the door. This provides a much more modern aesthetic than a standard timber door. You really can’t go wrong with either door as long as it’s solid timber; it’s just a matter of what message you want to send to those who go through your door.

The conventional solid timber door has its own aesthetic. It exudes tradition and prosperity. It tends to look larger than its physical size because it can look imposing. On the other hand, a pivot door looks sleek and modern in comparison, just because of the offset and the lack of hinges.

Both doors are great, but the aesthetic of the pivot door is less common than the aesthetic of the standard door.
