Sometimes finding more living space or the feeling of more space can be as simple as utilising the space you already have more effectively. In our experience, bifold doors are one of the easiest and quickest ways to create more space in your home.
We recently came upon a piece at realestate.com.au called “4 tricks to open up small spaces.” The “tricks” were creating a void, using light colours, having lots of openings to the outdoors and utilising the space you have outdoors more wisely.
We heartily agree with all of these. And other than the technicality of the void, these are exactly what we do when we are designing and building custom doors for you.
While we don’t recommend a void, what we do instead is use bifold doors to open up the floor plan for the public rooms downstairs, such as the kitchen, dining area, living room and family room.
While we like timber colours instead of light coloured paint on a door, we help utilise the “lightest colour” of all: sunlight. Because bifold doors are made of glass with timber frames, they allow maximum light.
When it comes to openings to the outdoors and opening up outdoor space, that is exactly what external bifold doors do. They open the entire width of the space created by the door. Because they fold, there is no clearance area necessary. And they are the best entry and exit for integrating the outdoors into your home, especially alfresco living areas, decks or patios.
Bifold doors are the least expensive and most effective way to create more space in your home and connect it to alfresco spaces.
