French doors are a great design alternative for people who like to mix modern styling with timeless design.
While they aren’t the most popular doors in Perth yet, we see that as an advantage. French doors modernise your home and provide elegance and a unique look. We love helping people modernise their homes with custom built doors and windows. Our customers are usually happy because the results are stunning and it doesn’t cost nearly as much as it would to do a full renovation.
Why French Doors are Becoming More Popular
French doors provide a number of benefits. They are extremely impressive as an entry door, especially when done in natural wood tones or light stains. When done correctly, they provide a beautiful transition or “bridge” between the outdoors and the inside of your home.
As we mentioned, French doors allow a lot of sunlight to enter your home. However, since they are made of strong, exterior grade timber and weatherproof glass that is produced specially for us in WA, they don’t allow nearly as much escape of energy as many conventional doors and windows do.
When you let a lot more light into a room, it has two effects. First, the brightening makes it look and feel more pleasant. Second, it makes your room look larger. The perception of extra space and more light has been found to have a positive effect on how we feel from day to day.
What are French Doors?
A French door is a door that has a timber frame and one or more glass panels in the middle. A lot of country clubs have French doors to the outside. They usually have a lot of glass panels, separated by a gridwork of small timber bars called muntins. Muntins are basically what makes a french door look like a french door.
