Custom external doors and windows are the quickest way to modernise your home. They are also one of the more effective ways to make your home more energy efficient. And they cost a lot less than making structural adjustments to your house. Here’s how it works.
Energy Efficiency
If your home still has its original doors and windows, it’s probable that they are allowing energy to leak into and out of your home. While builders do their best to provide quality homes at reasonable prices, they don’t always use the highest quality materials on their doors and windows. They will use aluminum frames, inexpensive glass and hollow, laminated “timber.”
This looks OK at first, but eventually, the aluminium starts to warp. This can create energy leaks by creating gaps between aluminium and the surfaces it is supposed to rest “flush” against. This includes the panes of the windows, too. On doors, you may see light coming in between the cracks even when the door is closed.
Aluminium can also downgrade with age, depending upon its quality. This can occasionally let energy leak in and out. It goes without saying that hollow laminate “timber” doors are not nearly as energy efficient as solid timber or timber and weatherproof glass.
Modernise Your Home With Custom External Doors and Windows
The doors and windows that go between your home and the outdoors say a lot about your home. Believe it or not, they are an easy way to make your home look more modern almost instantly. First of all, they are an easy style update.
For example, bifold doors are extremely “hot” in the Perth area right now. So are solid timber entry doors. Pivot doors can make an extremely bold statement in the right home. Other styles of windows such as servery windows and casement windows are also quite popular right now.
