Recycled Jarrah Internal Sliding Door

recycled jarrah timber internal sliding door

I don’t know about you, however me, I absolutely love the warmth and the history of recycled timber in my home.

Not only that, I feel a sense of achievement that such a beautiful thing has been saved and re-purposed rather than disposed.

So when I was sent these photos of this unique once-off door (more of an artwork) I just had to share them with you.

Recycled Jarrah Doors – How Are they Made?

Every recycled Jarrah door is a truly unique once-off decorative feature.

First, Fremantle Door & Window sources the pre-used jarrah timber that meets the dimensions of the door and the requirements of the client.

They then cut each section of the door to size and lay out the pieces in the factory in O’Connor.

The customer is invited to the factory where they join in the fun of deciding which which pieces to use and the order in which they are placed.

Skilled tradesmen then put the door together and fit an edge strip to complete the look.

The door is then installed in the customer’s home by the company’s experienced installers.

Designer Timber Entrance Door With Security and Airflow

Fremantle Door & Window Company Timber Joinery

It’s not often you see a product that solves 3 problems at once…

For years many of us have been looking for a front door design that highlights the beauty and warmth of timber whilst allowing the cool afternoon breeze to flow through and discouraging those that would do us harm.

The only solution up to now has been to instal both a great looking timber entrance door and a security door on the outside which unfortunately hides the natural beauty and designer aesthetics of our new timber door.

Earlier this week we helped one Perth family with a solution to this issue. We replaced an engineered door and sidelite with a new custom made pivot door that has glass louvres with stainless steel safety mesh to the centre of the door.

A Designer Timber Entrance Door with Beauty, Security and Convenience

Having the louvres in the door removes the need to open two doors to get into the house whilst still ensuring you have a beautiful designer front door.

The stainless steel safety mesh maintains secure access to your home and you can open a louvre to see who is at the door without having to unlock the door.

Of course the combination of open louvres and a security mesh are also great for ventilation as you can control how much airflow you want to allow in and when closed you won’t suffer from a draft.

And did we mention that the door also keeps out all insect pests when closed?

So, in fact that is 4 problems solved with a single product.

Fighting the Insect Pests in Country WA

Western Australia is a huge state as we all know with a climate that runs from temperate through to extreme desert heat and tropical.

vulcan thermally modified timber entrance doorThe north of WA is hard on people and their homes with both the climate and the insect pests throwing all they can at our country cousins.

At Fremantle Door & Window Company we have been searching for a timber product for a while now that can resist the extremes of temperature and the devouring insect pests of the north of our state.

Whilst we source hardwoods that are harvested to meet strict environmental certification criteria we are also now sourcing a new type of plantation timber called Vulcan. Vulcan+ is engineered from clear, thermally modified plantation timber to bring about sustainability, style and durability.

Here is a timber entrance door we recently manufactured for a client in north-west WA that uses this product to deliver a beautiful designer entrance door which will keep the timber-loving insect pests away…
